Safe Streets for All Action Plan
Chikaming Township, Michigan
Overview
Chikaming Township faced persistent roadway safety issues, with more than 700 crashes between 2019–2023 concentrated on high-volume corridors like I-94 and Red Arrow Highway. Seasonal tourism and limited pedestrian/bicycle infrastructure compounded risks for residents and visitors. With support from the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, Antero Group led the creation of a comprehensive Safety Action Plan. The Plan combines crash data analysis, the Safe System Approach, and community engagement to chart a path toward Vision Zero and position the Township to secure future funding.
